In today’s rapidly shifting political landscape, nonprofit leaders must be prepared to evaluate risks to their financial and operational viability, plan strategically, and stay ahead of changes in policy or federal requirements. REACH has partnered with experts from Forvis Mazars to provide three educational webinars designed to inform nonprofit organizations, particularly those that receive federal grant funding, with tools to assess their current grant portfolios, strategically plan for future funding, and strengthen financial resilience through effective cash flow management and drawdown strategies.
Each webinar will provide practical insights and decision-making frameworks grounded in current Office of Management and Budget (OMB) guidance, the Trump administration’s evolving priorities, and best practices in nonprofit finance.
Federal grants provide critical support to nonprofit organizations, but they also come with compliance, funding, and operational risks, especially during periods of political and economic change.
Understanding how to assess these risks, align with funder priorities, and manage cash flow effectively is vital to ensuring mission continuity and organizational sustainability.

This webinar will focus on improving financial resilience through smarter cash flow planning. Attendees will learn about setting and maintaining reserve levels, incorporating fundraising for reserves, and using confidence adjustments to model different financial scenarios. The session is designed to help nonprofit leaders develop realistic and adaptive plans that support long-term sustainability.
Kim is a grants management consultant with Forvis Mazars. She has nearly 20 years of grant writing and management experience, including 10 years as a grants director for a sovereign nation. Kim has been awarded more than 150 competitive grants totaling $40 million. She also has provided grant writing, research, and grant compliance services that have repeatedly resulted in innovative revenue growth and increased margins. Her consulting and advisory services include strategy development, relationship management, concept implementation, project and program development, budget preparation, grant writing, grant management, and grant compliance.
Before joining Forvis Mazars, her grants experience included directing, developing, and managing the grant process from pre- to post-award for 30+ grants annually (from more than 15 federal agencies) including planning, budgeting, strategy, program/project development, and project management. In addition, she oversaw all aspects of financial management and procurement for compliance, establishing procedures for internal controls to monitor compliance with federal grants rules and regulations, specifically 2 CFR Part 200. Kim also ensured adequate documentation of files for each grant-funded project for tracking and reporting purposes. Kim is a graduate of John Brown University, Siloam Springs, Arkansas, with a B.S. degree in organizational management.
Sarah is the Austin/San Antonio market champion of Forvis Mazars’ Nonprofit, Education, & Public Sector Practice and has more than 22 years of experience in nonprofit accounting. She leads consulting engagements regarding financial operations and systems optimization, internal control design and documentation, chart of accounts design, and policy and procedure development for a variety of nonprofit organizations. She and her team provide periodic accounting services, audit preparation, and other accounting and compliance support to various nonprofit entities. She also assists higher education institutions across the nation with the implementation of Forvis Mazars’ Financial & Scenario Modeling tool.
Her career experience has centered on nonprofit entities, serving in various accounting and finance leadership roles in institutions of higher education and religious organizations. Sarah has additional experience providing audit services for a variety of nonprofit entities.
Sarah is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Institute of Management Accountants, Inc. (IMA), and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Inc. (ACFE). She holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification from IMA and the Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential from ACFE. She serves her community through active membership in the Austin Chapter of TXCPA and Social Venture Partners Austin.
She frequently presents about audit preparation, risk management, governance relationships, and chart of accounts design for nonprofit entities. Sarah is a summa cum laude graduate of Schreiner University, Kerrville, Texas, with a B.B.A. degree in accounting.
