Care connectors and other associated staff are invited to participate in a free webinar series that will focus on “Capacity Building for Network Strength.” Sessions are scheduled for October 6 and 13, 9-11 a.m., and October 20, 9-11:30 a.m.

The series will be facilitated by Melinda Lewis, LMSW, and faculty member in the KU School of Social Welfare. Lewis brings extensive experience working with nonprofit organizations on capacity building, strategic planning, evaluation and technical assistance to help organizations advance their mission.

Each session will address an aspect of network building, including establishing a shared definition of network and understanding each component; assessing network strength and areas for intervention; introducing assessment tools and practices; and strategies for weaving stronger networks.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  1. Learn about assessment tools that can provide insights about their networks;
  2. Explore promising practices;
  3. Hear from care connectors who have used technical assistance to address areas for improvement;
  4. Discuss experiences and needs with peers.

The series is sponsored by the Behavioral Health Funder Network, including the Children’s Services Fund of Jackson County, Community Mental Health Fund of Jackson County, Hall Family Foundation, Health Forward Foundation, REACH Healthcare Foundation and the United Way of Greater Kansas City.
