Marisa Martinez is a community development advisor dedicated to engaging community stakeholders and sharing insights that support the needs of low- to moderate-income and underserved communities across Western Missouri, Kansas, and the Kansas City area. With over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit, banking, and quasi-government sectors, Martinez values financial empowerment and its positive effects on personal finance and community growth. Before becoming a Community Development Advisor, she served as the senior vice president of community development at a large financial institution, leading a team that provided access to banking products and services in underserved areas. Previously, she also served as the bank’s CRA officer, where she gained an appreciation for the Community Reinvestment Act and its potential to foster collaborations and partnerships that led to innovative and responsive banking solutions.
A second-generation Mexican American and first-generation college graduate, Martinez earned an undergraduate degree in social psychology, a graduate certificate in nonprofit leadership, and a master’s degree in public administration. In addition to her board service with the REACH Healthcare Foundation, she also serves on the board of Mattie Rhodes and as Chair of the Cultural Arts Center and Events Committees. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, John, their dog Lola, and hosting large family gatherings.
