Communities Concerned for Immigrants and Refugees is a learning network open to health, social services other community groups interested in strengthening the health and well-being refugee and immigrant communities. Two upcoming forums will address pathways to citizenship and next steps in creating a Safe and Welcoming Wyandotte.
The Path to Citizenship for Immigrants and Refugees, Friday, April 22, 2-3:30 p.m., The Kansas City Public Library, 12 W. 10th Street, Kansas City, MO. The program will provide participants a comprehensive understanding of the U.S. citizenship process for immigrants and refugees: eligibility criteria to become a U.S. citizen, the application process and how to identify reliable application assistance. Other information will include the content of citizenship classes, and where to acccess classes in the Kansas City metro area. Presenters include:

- The Rev. Dr. James Wood, Executive Director & DOJ Accredited Legal Representative, Immigrant Connection, Inc.
- G. Paul Cloutier, Community Relations Specialist, District 32 U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)

Safe and Welcoming Ordinances: What It Means for Our Communities, Thursday, April 28, 8:30-10 a.m., Hilton Garden Inn, 520 Minnesota Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66101. This panel discussion will be facilitated by Irene Caudillo, President & CEO of El Centro, Inc., and will review the history of this grassroots movement, exploring what it means for communities and dive into the current challenges.
