Statement by REACH Healthcare Foundation President and CEO Brenda Sharpe on today’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the Affordable Care Act:

“Today, the REACH Foundation joins with thousands of advocates and individuals across the country in celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA ensures that millions of Americans will have access to health coverage and comprehensive health care.

This landmark legislation has had a monumental impact on access to preventive care, mental health services, chronic disease care and more. In addition, the ACA has provided states federal resources to expand Medicaid to cover low-income working adults – a health policy tool that has helped reduce the coverage gap, and strengthen health systems and the health care workforce in states that have adopted expansion.

It is our fervent hope that leadership in Kansas and Missouri will now turn their attention to putting these powerful health benefits to work for their residents.”
