The results of the three-year Kansas Attachment Biobehavioral Catch-Up (ABC) Early Childhood Initiative will be discussed during a live webinar on Tuesday, November 2, at 12 p.m. Amy Mendenhall of the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare will present the findings and the impact on Kansas children, families and early childhood capacity.
ABC is an evidence-based parenting intervention for caregivers of infants and toddlers who experienced early adversity. ABC uses parent coaches to help caregiving adults nurture and respond sensitively to their child. The program was designed to buffer the harmful effects of toxic stress and promote normal early childhood development.
The initiative was funded by the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund, Hutchinson Community Foundation, Kansas Health Foundation, REACH Healthcare Foundation and Wyandotte Health Foundation. The foundations supported program implementation at five sites, along with a program implementation evaluation and an impact study focused on how the ABC intervention impacted children, caregivers and families.
Registration for the November 2 webinar is available online.
