REACH Foundation Awards $1,085,000 to Health, Advocacy Organizations
Merriam, Kansas — The REACH Healthcare Foundation announced grants totaling $1,085,000 to 17 health care and health advocacy organizations and rural health coalitions to support their operations in 2016. Core operating grants are awarded annually to nonprofit organizations considered to be essential contributors to the region’s health care safety net system. The grants can be used for personnel, equipment, technology and other business expenses. The foundation has awarded more than $11 million in core operating grants since 2006.
Investing in the core operations of nonprofit organizations working in the safety net health care arena has been a longstanding priority for the REACH Foundation, said William Moore, Ph.D., Vice President of Programs and Evaluation. Moore said the organizations funded for 2016 have demonstrated “a high level of commitment to eliminating barriers that prevent uninsured and other vulnerable people from obtaining the health care they need.”
The organizations receiving core operating grants also participate in a learning community that provides access to experts in organizational planning, financial management, leadership and other organizational development. Moore said the learning community is designed to help the organizations learn from each other and identify opportunities to leverage their efforts.
