The REACH Healthcare Foundation and the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City this week announced an Advocacy Capacity-Building Technical Assistance opportunity for area nonprofit health and human service organizations. The technical assistance opportunity is designed to help nonprofit organizations involved in direct services to engage in policy advocacy and social change.

To qualify, applicants must be current grantees of the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City or the REACH Healthcare Foundation. Organizations whose primary function is policy advocacy are not eligible to apply.

The foundations will select up to five organizations to receive 12 months of consulting and technical assistance provided by a consultant. Organizations will complete an advocacy capacity self-assessment to identify strengths and areas for improvement, develop a work plan to address policy and advocacy priorities, and strengthen their capacity to engage their consumers in their advocacy efforts.

The application deadline is Friday, October 26. The technical assistance term will begin in January 2013.

To apply, review the application.
